Afghanistan Veterans

Engaging and paying tribute to veterans of the Afghanistan conflict will be an important element of the dedication ceremony.

Veterans (Afghan Guard/Old Guard) are invited to join the parade on the 30 September 2017 for review by Her Honour, The Honourable Judith Guichon, Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia.

Veterans Participation

Planning for the unveiling and dedication ceremony is underway and detailed information for veteran participation will be available for downloading from this page very soon. In the meantime, the following are some key points:

  • 13:00 Pre-dedication events will begin at the memorial site at the corner of Quadra and Courtenay Streets.
  • 13:45 The parade of serving regular force and reserve military units and an RCMP contingent will arrive at the memorial site
  • 14:00 Arrival of the Lieutenant Governor and beginning of the formal program
  • 15:45 Reception at the Bay Street Armoury.

Members of the Afghan Guard are invited to join the public at the memorial site between 13:00 and 13:45. After the arrival of the Lieutenant Governor, the MC will invite you to leave the audience and join the parade.
